According to the game's Steam page, Firmament requires a minimum of 16GB RAM and recommends 32GB RAM - a very rare requirement, rarely seen even among the most graphically demanding games. While this high requirement may be daunting, it appears that the game's developers have their reasons for it. According to a dev response by PC Gamer, Cyan wanted to ensure that the game runs as smoothly as possible, especially in VR, and so they decided to increase the memory requirements to 32GB to give users an accurate understanding of what the game needs to achieve the highest possible visual quality settings. However, Cyan also states that the game will still run perfectly fine on 16GB of RAM and even supports M1 Macbook Airs with just 8GB of RAM.
